Roland Park has school psychologists, school social workers and a school counselor from Universal on staff on a regular basis. Teachers consult regularly with these providers to carefully consider various academic and social/emotional or behavioral problems in the school setting to inform intervention. These related service providers also offer counseling services on an as-needed basis and in individual or group formats when available. Referral services for community-based service providers are also available to parents and families. Parents and other families are strongly encouraged to communicate directly with their child’s classroom teacher(s) first to alert them to any issues that may disrupt their child’s learning process. Teachers can then work together with the caregiver to reach out to support staff for additional support when needed. This process is often coordinated through Roland Park’s Student Support Team (SST) who meet to identify the problem and make decisions about what steps may be taken to improve the child’s school performance in targeted areas.
