The Green Committee

The PTA Green Committee welcomes new members as it works to support our school’s status as a Maryland Green School, helping RPEMS teachers and students enjoy a healthy, eco-friendly learning environment through enrichment opportunities, building and grounds maintenance strategies, and community involvement.  You can help out by volunteering for gardening days or by taking on a   larger issue such as improving recycling procedures in the cafeteria.

Our subcommittees include Gardening, Seed to Table projects, Zero Waste Lunch & Recycling, Energy Conservation, and Communications/Grant-writing. This year we hope to have both a Gardening organizer and a Green Committee liaison for each grade level to stimulate greater involvement.  Consider taking on one of those roles, communicating to the teachers and your fellow parents about gardening days or other green initiatives. Sign up at Back to School Night or online.

Wednesday, October 6th is International Walk to School Day.

I am a parent of a student at Southwest Baltimore Charter School. Last school year we took over a building belonging to BCPS. I am trying to establish a school garden and garden club at my school. I have heard so many great things about your school garden and was wondering if I could get in contact with someone from your school to give me some information about what is necessary to start a garden and more importantly to keep it alive.
    Thank You in advance
